Parish priest Mater Dei accused of sexual abuse
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A priest in Topeka has been charged with sexual abuse of a minor.
The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas has stated that it has received an allegation of child sexual abuse against Fr. John Pilcher.
The archdiocese said parishioners in Mater Dei parish were informed of the news over the weekend.
A spokesperson said that the police had been notified and that Bro. Pilcher was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
Pilcher has denied the allegations and is fully cooperating.
He will remain on leave until the investigation is completed and the Archdiocese’s Independent Review Committee has reviewed the case and made a recommendation to Archbishop Joseph Naumann on the matter.
